WebMAP Mobile is a program designed to assist teenagers dealing with chronic pain issues such as headaches, abdominal pain, and back pain. The aim of WebMAP Mobile is to support adolescents in managing pain and enhancing their capacity to engage in activities that hold significance for them.

Throughout the program, participants will acquire diverse behavioral and cognitive skills to handle pain effectively and pursue desired activities. The journey through various captivating destinations within the program typically spans approximately 6 weeks. Nonetheless, individuals can utilize the app and recommended skills for as long as necessary. Each destination corresponds to distinct skill sets aimed at pain management. Participants will monitor symptoms and progress, complete assignments to practice new skills, and dedicate a few days to each assignment before advancing to the subsequent destination.

The creation of WebMAP Mobile can be attributed to Dr. Tonya Palermo and her team at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, comprising healthcare professionals and researchers experienced in e-health interventions for youth pain management. The development of the software was undertaken by 2Morrow, Inc., a company specializing in mobile behavior change interventions.

The program's contents have been adapted from a successful online pain management program named WebMAP (Web-based Management of Adolescent Pain), previously accessible to teenagers via computer internet connectivity.

For optimal results, consistent daily app usage following provided instructions is recommended. However, individual efficacy may vary. In instances where pain exacerbates or unexpected issues arise, consulting a healthcare provider before continuing app usage is advised.
